Nancy advised the young woman against the decision, but she was adamant.

And since she had already walked the first 2500 miles from the Mexican border what could go wrong?

The young woman's name is Katharina Groene, and she is from Germany.

Nancy said she advised her like a mother, telling Katharina she wouldn't allow her daughter to continue up the trail, but still, Katharina ignored Nancy's advice.

Nancy decided to go home, but being the caring mother, she is, her mind wasn't at rest.

For the next seven nights, Nancy couldn't sleep, she had Katharina on her mind, understanding the dangers of walking in the snow alone.

When she heard about the weather forecast which said there would be two feet of snow in the mountains, she lost her mind.

Immediately, alerting the police department, she told them about Katharina who could be in possible danger.

The authorities informed her that they don't go looking for someone who hadn't been filed missing and that Katharina hadn't even missed her checkpoint.

But Nancy convinced them her instinct was always right and then the Snohomish County Sheriff's department went searching for Katharina in the location Nancy gave them.

Not long after, they found Katharina, frostbitten, with about a day more to live. Immediately she was rescued and given proper medical care.

Nancy invited Katharina to stay with her a few days and then it turned out that Nancy had saved Katharina's life in more than one way.

Katherine confessed she had lost hope in humanity and that was why she went on that hike alone. Nancy restored her faith in people.

This is why it is important to always show love to the person next to you as you never know what they might be going through.  A big kudos to Nancy for reaching out and caring!
