At an age when many people are hanging up their fitness gear and simply taking it easy, this personal trainer is just getting started. And she is already an inspiration to thousands of people.
66-year-old Ellen Ector has four grandkids, but she's not about to slow down anytime soon. The gorgeous grandma is a personal fitness trainer and her body is proof that all her hard work is paying off.
Ellen has spent many years in her career as a social worker. However, she decided to quit her job and enter into the world of health and fitness. She and her daughter, Lana, founded the workout DVDs and website 'Black Girls Workout Too!'
While speaking to Buzzfeed Life, Ellen explained that she spent 20 years as a social worker, but left in 2009 to pursue fitness training. She had always dreamed of doing so and she decided that it was time.
Ellen believes that 'your body is a machine,' and also focuses on teaching people how to work out using little to no equipment. This way, women who may not have the means or time to invest in a gym membership can still get fit.
After her mother died of uterine cancer at the age of 63, Ellen's desire to help black women in terms of training was ignited.
She encourages her fans and clients to "take baby steps" if they are having issues with getting in shape. She iterated the importance of being patient and not rushing through the process.
Ellen holds the belief that health is more than just physical. It's important to consider other ways through which we may be harming our body.
Don’t use your body as a dump. Stop dumping in boyfriend problems, stop dumping in the bad food!
