Her Husband Walked Out On Her 5 Days After A Stroke Had Left Her Paralyzed. Today She's Happily In Love With Her Personal Trainer
They say that when one door closes, another one opens. Such was the case of a mother of four, Riona Kelly.
37-year-old Riona became paralyzed after she suffered a stroke. She was told that she would never be able to use her legs again.
There was more bad news in store for the devastated mom as her husband of 14 years asked for divorce five days later.
However, Richard, Riona's husband, denied these claims saying that he had asked for the divorce the morning before the stroke. He also said he visited her regularly while she was in the hospital, and cared for their children.
Since the diagnosis, Riona was determined to get back on her feet. She knew it was a long shot but she worked very hard. And it paid off.
Eight weeks after the stroke, she took her first steps. In addition, she also fell in love with her personal trainer, Keith.
During her rehabilitation, Riona said she was struggling. She had to come to terms with her paralysis and being suddenly single.
She felt like giving up at the time but was determined to stay strong for her children. She put out a social media call for a personal trainer and that was how Keith came into her life.
As Keith continued to help Riona regain her ability to walk, they got to know each other better. Their relationship blossomed and became something more intimate.
Riona credited Keith with encouraging her and being there for her through the whole ordeal.
He has been amazing with me and the children and I love him more each and every day.
Even though it was an extremely difficult challenge, Riona said going through what she did was the best thing to ever happen to her and now she's more open and optimistic for the future.
