# Internet Is Confused With This Math Puzzle About 10 Green And 10 Blue Socks. Are You Willing To Take The Challenge?

March 5, 2019

Sometimes the easiest things seem complicated to us! Like this math puzzle that confused Internet users and made them suggest multiple answers when, in fact, there is only one.

Are you ready to take the challenge?

There are 10 green socks and 10 blue socks in a pile. The room has no lights, so you need to take the socks in complete darkness. What is the minimal number of socks you must pick to have a matching pair?

It would be weird to go out in the socks of different colours, right?

The possible answers are the following:

1. 2 socks
2. 4 socks
3. 3 socks
4. 7 socks
5. 11 socks

Remember, you can’t see anything, so you don’t know what colour you are picking.

Let’s see if you can think creatively. It may seem that the right answer is 2, as 2 socks create a pair. There is a chance you take both of the same colour, but the odds aren’t still guaranteed.

Ready to find the right answer?

It’s 3! You must take 3 socks, and two of them would definitely match! Even if you take three green socks, you still have a pair!
