What is it like to be 118 years old? Julia Flores Colque knows, as the woman celebrated her 118thbirthday on October 26, 2018. She lives in the small town of Sacaba in Bolivia.
The town’s city hall managed to organize an amazing party dedicated to the oldest resident of the community. During the celebration, she demonstrated that age does not make her older; her spirit is as young as ever!
She blew the candles on her cake, enjoyed a piece of it, and then played a lovely tune on a flute. The woman has been into music her entire life. In her age, her fingers are still skillful enough to play a little guitar.
“Mama Julia”, as she is known in her town, was born in 1900 in the south region of Bolivia. Although she might be the oldest person in the world, but she never submitted an application to the Guinness Book of Records.
The oldest woman on record died at the age of 122 years and 164 days, in 1997.
Colque is living a humble life in her small house made of mud and bricks. She has a garden, dogs, cats, and chickens. She has no husband and no children, but she is looked after by her 65-year-old niece, Augustina Verna.
This woman has an umbelievable amount of energy. She loves spending time singing folklore songs, and being with her pets, according to relatives and friends!
Maybe her love of life is an infinite source of motivation to longevity! We wish “Mama Julia” strong health and many more years of happiness.
