3-Feet-Tall Woman With Severe Bone Disorder Defied Odds And Gave Birth To Twins, Despite Doctors' Prognoses

Date August 16, 2018

Disabilities do not always limit a person’s life. Sometimes they inspire them to overcome the impossible and live  life to the fullest despite the doctors’ prognoses.

Melissa Davert was born with a debilitating brittle bone disorder. This diagnosis means having a short height, fragile bones, loose joints, heart and breathing problems. But Melissa’s family didn’t want to plunge into grief: They knew God had a plan for their daughter, and she needed to wait and see to understand the purpose of her living.

Defying all odds, Melissa got married and had 2 beautiful children. Her husband suffers from cerebral palsy, and her twin children, a son and a daughter, were diagnosed with the same bone disorder as their mom.

However, it does not prevent the family from being happy with their lives.

Davert says there are so many physically healthy people who have unhappy lives, but she enjoys hers and would not trade it with anyone for the world. When the woman got pregnant, the medics had major concerns about her health as the babies could grow into the mom’s heart and lungs area and none of them would survive. They advised that she terminate the pregnancy, but that was not an option.

The couple was sure they could provide the twins with a happy life, and they have done a great job so far! Melissa, who was born in a Catholic family, credits God with giving her powers to overcome life challenges and be able to enjoy life to the fullest!
