17-Year-Old Teen Who Had No Date For The Prom Dressed Like A Queen And Took Her Grandfather Instead

Date July 4, 2019

What do you do when you don’t have a date to go to prom with? Go to your room and cry your eyes out? Wrong! Getting a date for prom can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be so anymore, as seen in 17-year-old Kaylah Bells' photos when she took her stylish grandfather to prom.

Meet the pair

Kaylah Bells, from California, attends the Lancaster High school and she did not get asked on a date to prom. Rather than bury herself in sadness, she saw it as an opportunity to ask her stylish 67-year-old grandfather, Alvin Hackett, to go to prom with her, which turned out to be a beautiful “awww” moment.

What also got people talking was their stylish outfits. Kaylah talked about her custom-made dress to The Insider. She said:

"The inspiration behind my dress was from the dresses Queen Mary of the Scots wore from the show 'Reign.'"

 And added that:

I always wanted to look like a queen for my prom ever since I was little but Queen Mary's outfits definitely inspired me.

Her grandfather wore a custom-made blue suit that had pinstripes and a pink tie to match.

They shared their pictures on Twitter, which have been retweeted nearly 12,000 times and gained more than 105,000 likes. Here are some of the comments Kaylah received on her post:

So, there you have it. Young teens, don’t be ashamed if you don’t have a date for prom, just take your father, grandfather or brother. And for the fellas, we are pretty sure your mum wouldn’t turn down the offer.
