If you want to live longer, there are certain exercises that have been shown to make this possible. According to a report by CNN, low to moderate intensity exercise is recommended for aging people. A great example of this are exercises that involve stretching. For instance, yoga and pilates are beneficial for longevity.

A simple exercise to try

Bending down in an attempt to bring your fingers to touch your toes is a great way to stretch your whole body. And as it turns out this simple exercise can also improve longevity.

The older you get, the more difficult it can be to move around so much. Thus, low-intensity moves like this can be the way to go. Of course, this is as long as there are no restrictions or concerns from your doctor.

So how can this move be done?

First, you can start by doing a little warm-up exercise to get your body ready.

Then, while standing with two feet placed firmly on the ground, try to reach the floor with your hands. It's important to keep your legs and back straight and aim for the floor as long as it's comfortable.

These static and stretch exercises do a lot to eliminate inner muscle spasms. They help to relieve tension and also enrich your body with oxygen. Because so many muscles and organs are in play, they can also improve digestion and you get to enjoy an 'inner' massage.

Other exercises to live longer

One study has shown that you do not require vigorous exercises to stay healthy and enjoy longevity. In fact, people who engage in regular light and moderate physical activities such as walking, golf, and light stretching have been known to live on average 5.5 years longer than those who lead a sedentary lifestyle.
