We all have developed some bad habits in different areas of our lives. The good news is that it's never too late to change. Here are 10 bad shower habits you may want to break ASAP.
1. Using a dirty towel

Bath towels are breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. Marilyn C. Roberts, a professor of environmental and occupational health sciences, advises that you should take a clean towel every four to five days.

2. Ignoring your loofah

Loofah sponges have a lot of holes and corners where dead skin cells can become lodged after a shower. Dermatologist Melissa Piliang MD says that you should wash them frequently and change them every three to four weeks.

It may seem convenient to use warm water day in and day out. But taking cold showers can bring a lot of benefits. It helps with alertness, improves blood circulation, relieves stress and even helps with weight loss.
4. Using scented soap

Scented soaps have some side effects that may not always be good for your skin. They sometimes cause itchiness as they can strip your skin of its natural oils. Go for high-quality bar soaps or liquid soap instead of powerfully scented soaps.

Women's health physician Holly L. Phillips MD explained that it's not just the smell of sweat that you should worry about. Going to sleep with sweat on your skin gives bacteria a chance to breed.
6. Going overboard when exfoliating

To be on the safe side, avoid exfoliating more than two to three times a week. If you do it too often, your skin can get inflamed.

Some people are guilty of assuming the soapy water pouring down from the rest of their body automatically cleanses the feet. This is not true. You need to wash your feet thoroughly, both between your toes and the other areas.

Blasting that hot water on your body can feel soothing and relaxing, but don't be tempted to do it for more than a few minutes. No more than 5-10 minutes is usually recommeded. Otherwise, you may develop dry skin.
