75-Year-Old Female Body Builder Shares Some Of Her Eating And Exercise Secrets

Bodybuilder Janice Lorraine may be well into her 70s, but she has been killing it in the business for years and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.

How she got started

In a 2017 interview with TODAY, Janice opened up about what got her started in bodybuilding and what had been her motivation. 

She told the host that she began the bodybuilding lifestyle in 1998. Before that, she spent many years as a psychologist and a counselor. After retirement, she decided to start doing something she's passionate about since she had the time to do whatever she wanted. 

One day, the grandma went to a gym and ended up working out with other elderly ladies who seemed to be struggling. Janice did not want to accept the 'weak' stereotype most people bestowed on her age.

So she figured that, since she had no problems pushing ahead in her own life, why not go all the way with physical activities as wel?. As began to get stronger and more sculpted, she decided to compete. Today, she has 23 titles to her name.

Her health secrets

The 75-year-old grandmother relies on a healthy nutrition and exercise regimen to maintain her body. While speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Janice explained that her goal has always been to serve as an encouragement for women of any age and help them understand that they can achieve basically anything.

Janice says she's always careful about her food choices, whether or not she's competing. She described her diet as consisting of 'natural nude food', which means she does not use usually condiments and sauces in her recipes.

She also prefers unprocessed foods, salads, and sweet potatoes. Just because she follows a strict diet does not mean she never indulges. She revealed that she has one biscuit and one square of sugar-free chocolate daily.

As for her exercise, Janice engages in an intensive training regime and she works out up to six times a week. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, her focus is on her major muscle groups at the gym. On other days, she takes walks, does push-ups, back-leg raises and some abdominal exercises.

Age is not a barrier

Janice is often the oldest competitor in the contests she participates in, but she uses this to push forward instead of allowing it to hold her back. Now that she has a large number of followers in her social platforms, she's focused on inspiring women and motivating them to free themselves from traditional ideas and go for their full potential.

My aim is not to rival those younger than me. My aim is to show what’s possible and to motivate and encourage women of any age.

In 2019, she plans to compete again in a bodybuilding contest. We wish her all the best.
