1. A frequent need to urinate, especially during the nighttime;

2. Urination or ejaculation causes pain and a burning sensation;

3. The stream of urine may be interrupted or weak;

4. Feeling discomfort or pain when starting or stopping urinating;

5. Urine leakage, especially at night, or when laughing, sneezing and coughing;

6. Difficulty when urinating standing up;

7. Presence of blood in the urine or semen.

These signs may also indicate an urinary tract infection or an enlarged noncancerous prostate. However, if you notice them, make an appointment with your doctor and resquest a test for prostate cancer.

As the disease advances, it brings more severe symptoms:

1. Sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting;

2. Constant dull pain or stiffness in the pelvis, upper thighs, lower back, and in the bones of these areas;

3. Swelling in your legs, muscle weakness, difficulty to move around.

The medical world struggles to explain the actual causes of the prostate cancer. It occurs mostly in overweight men and in those with a history of the disease in the family.

There are still some recommendations that, if followed, may help with cancer prevention: Adopting a healthy diet, rich in vitamins and minerals and exercising regularly; avoiding harmful habits and controlling your weight are also advisable.
