Put Aging On Hold: Maturity Begins With Your Brain, Not Your Body! It's Important To Maintain Your Psychological And Social Age

Date April 23, 2018

If we ask you about your age, you would most probably give us your biological age. But if we put the question in a different light, for instance, how old do you feel inside, what would you tell?

Our age makes decisions for us in so many areas of life. From working capacities to relationships, keeping us hale and hearty when we're young and stopping us from embarrassing ourselves when we get older.

As an index of aging, biological age is now deeply flawed. Earlier, people believed that youth ends up at 28 and old age begins as soon as you turn 54. What about now? According to the study, today youth ends at 35 and old age begins at 58. What's between is the middle age, which now runs for nearly 23 years.

In this way, the concept of aging is shrinking, as people feel themselves differently, they want to be healthy, active, and young for as long as possible.

If you want to know your true age, you need to give up on the calendar. The calendar tells you what your biological age is, but this number may be too far from defining who you essentially are. All you know from that number is how many times you've been on the earth while it rotates around the sun.

Biological age neglects such important factors as where you were born, how did you grow up, what developed your image of self. That's why we should disregard the old-fashioned way of perceiving age and instead focus on some more up-to-date methods.

Psychological age is a marker of your ability to remember, process knowledge, and understand the world surrounding you. Two factors that influence psychological aging most considerably are memory and emotions.

To stay psychologically young, you should continually improve your memory and protect yourself from daily stressors. Preserve wisdom in any kind of situation, stay optimistic and cheerful whatever happens.

Social age is a marker of your relations with your social surrounding. Two factors that make the greatest impact on your social age are work and family. To stay socially young, maintain hold of your relations with other people, family bonds, and friendly terms.

Again, we return to the question: how old do you feel, considering your overall lifestyle and well-being? Even if you feel like 25-year-old when you're on the shady side of 50, that's awesome! However, there's a plenty of ways to stop the clock from ticking and remain young for a longer time, staying young at heart at any age.

Try doing some yoga to raise mindfulness and body-soul balance. Laugh each and other day, giving credit for the gift of life you've received at no cost. Don't forget to spend more time in the out-of-doors, as it will boost your mood and lift up your spirits. Let yourself fall in love, treating your inner self, and never be ashamed of your age!
