Is there one word that gives us quite a fever of excitement? Sales!
Do you feel chills and thrills already? People tend to go crazy over the perspective of a cheap price, even when they don’t really need the items.

According to consumer scientist James Mourey, the crazy behavior seen at shopping malls during the sale season can be explained. The beneficial financial deal makes us feel happy, as it activates the brain’s reward center. In contrast, unreasonably high prices make us feel pain.

We are all driven by pleasure, but sometimes it makes us lose control, as it happened in Marseille, France. People acted crazy in the Lidl shop over the sale for a cooking machine.
The scene was surreal. It seemed like all those madams and sirs turned into wild animals on the hunt for food as if their lives depended on it.
Before the shop opened, the crowd was waiting at the door. Just imagine what happened when they all flooded in. Consumers run to the boxes, stepping on toes, pushing each other, and arguing as hard as they could.
Those moments were posted on Twitter.

That’s when people’s inner essence comes out! We tend to get competitive in different spheres of life. As you see, shopping is not an exception.
The sad thing is, the crowd is an uncontrollable force that can be dangerous. Have you heard of cases when people were stumped in such a rush?
If you think sales are your weakness as well, consider these tips:
- write shopping lists and do not buy anything out of it;
- unfollow shops and brands;
- go for another hobby instead of doing shopping;
- focus on increasing your savings.
Hopefully, that may help you avoid buying unnecessary stuff and save your nerves!
