If you're struggling with falling asleep, writer Sharon Ackman, who writes on topics about military, veterans and their families, reveals the secrets that military men and women adopt so they can fall asleep in 120 seconds.

Step 1: Get comfortable with what you have

Ackman explained that not all military officials have the luxury of a comfy bed to rest at night, so they had to learn how to fall asleep using what they had.

Some pilots were taught to fall asleep while sitting back in chairs, putting their feet flat and letting their hands go limp. Work with what you have and don't try too hard to aim for the perfect scene.

Step 2: Relax your face

It's all about the face when you want to fall asleep in record time. Relax it completely, try not to frown, squint or smile. As you feel every part - your cheeks, jaw, mouth - relax, take a long breath in and out.

Don't forget to keep those eyes limp as well. Let them fall smoothly and gently so your body knows it's time to unwind.

Step 3: Let your upper body go

After you've relaxed your face, focus on letting the shoulders go. Let those muscles drop and relax, including the ones at the back of your neck. Continue to breathe in deeply and exhale slowly, as you rid your body of tension. Then, start with your dominant arm and feel your bicep relax and drop down.

After that, move the focus to your right forearm, then hand

and fingers, letting them fall. Afterward, move to your other hand and do the same thing.

Step 4: Your legs

Start with your right thigh muscle, let it sink like dead weight, then do the same to the calf muscles, ankle and foot. Feel every muscle as it goes limp. Repeat the process with your left leg.

Step 5: Finally, your mind

Try to rid your mind of all thoughts for about 10 seconds. Keep it still. If you're struggling, try holding a static image in your head.

Once you're able to empty your mind, your body will become completely relaxed and you should fall asleep.
