Cinnamon. As ants can't stand the smell of cinnamon, its essential oil is a great way to deal with house ants. Just mix one part water with one part cinnamon essential oil. Use a cotton ball to rub the mixture in the area you may be thinking ants are coming from. After this simple procedure, ants should clear that spot immediately!

Vinegar. Just find a spray bottle and fill it with water and distilled vinegar in equal parts. Add a droplet of lemon essential oil and shake the bottle. Spray the mixture around the baseboards and spots ants like. Repeat the manipulation until the insects disappear.

Borax. The gimmick of this recipe is that instead of repelling, it attracts ants. Ants take the food and share it with their nest, after what the borax hidden inside each bite kills them ultimately. The recipe is quite simple:
- 1 teaspoon borax
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
In addition, you'll need a plastic container with lid and a sharp object to make holes. So, let's proceed to the process.

Mix all the ingredients in the plastic container. Seal with lid and make a few holes through the sides of the container and the lid so only ants can get in and out of it.
Hot cayenne pepper bath. Though this method may seem a bit cruel, it does work quite effectively. You'll need to boil a huge pot of water and add some hot cayenne pepper in it. Now grab the pot outside and pour the spicy water where ants are heading underground.

Peppermint. Ants hate the strong smell of peppermint, that's why it's also an effective method to deal with them. Mix one cup of water and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Shake it and spray the mixture on favorite places of ants. Repeat the procedure twice a day until all insects are gone.
