It is a very devastating thing when a woman loses her life trying to bring a child into the world.

What a loss!

Frederick Connie recently suffered a significant loss. It all began on the 30th of November, when his pregnant wife, who wasn’t due till January, started having hemorrhages.

He immediately rushed her to the hospital, where the doctors told him he had a choice to make.

They could either do an operation to save the baby with the probability of losing his wife, or save his wife first and lose the child.

Connie knew his choice was made for him. He chose to keep the baby because he knew his wife would hate him if she lived knowing her baby could have been saved.

The operation was done, and the baby was saved. Luckily, his wife was in recovery long enough to see pictures of her beautiful baby girl, who was named Angelique Keyvonne Connie after her mother.

They called her ‘Pooder' for short. Sadly, a few minutes later, his wife's health declined, and she started to bleed out. The doctors couldn't save her, and she passed away.

Heartbroken, Connie looked after Pooder in the labor room as other mothers sympathized with him.

Pooder is expected to be in the hospital for weeks, and though Connie isn't financially stable, he says he will sell all his belongings and sleep in his car if he has to in order to give Pooder the life she deserves.

The new father also said he would plan his wife's burial once Pooder is healthy and out of the hospital. His daughter will know she had a beautiful mom who loved her very much, he commented.

His friends and family, however, have risen to the occasion and his boss has set up a fundraiser on Facebook for Connie and his baby girl.

Dealing with loss

When you lose someone, a part of you is taken away. However, it is better to work through it. Here's how you can do that:

1. Talk to someone, express yourself.

2. It's okay to cry. Know that crying isn't a sign of weakness.

3. Don’t numb your pain. Substances like alcohol won't help, only postpone the moment you have to face your loss and grieve.

4. Take a walk, do something quiet, walk your dog and remember the good times.

Our hearts go out to Connie and everyone out there who has lost someone. We hope you find happiness again.
