Gospel Star, Reba McEntire And Her Daughter-In-Law, Kelly Clarkson, Reunite To Perform Together At The ACMs

Date April 17, 2018

There was certainly a lot to cheer for at the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards which took place on Sunday, April 15th, 2018. Gospel singer, Reba McEntire graced the stage along with the talented Kelly Clarkson. The pair performed McEntire's 1993 hit song, 'Does He Love You.'

Both Clarkson and McEntire pleased the crowd and their performance was part of the first-ever 'ACM Flashbacks.' This series is aimed at honoring classic country music hits from a specific year.

The artist who sang these classics will also be celebrated. Other 1993 songs that were featured were Toby Keith's 'Should’ve Been a Cowboy” (with Blake Shelton) and Alan Jackson's 'Chattahoochee.'

Before Clarkson and McEntire began their performance, the former took to the stage and appreciated what a privilege it was to sing with one of her "musical heroes."

Clarkson explained that she and McEntire sang the song "16 years ago" and at the time, the younger singer was worried that she did not do a great job. Clarkson said:

I was terrified. I sucked, she was so nice, though, afterward. She’s become more than just a dear friend, she’s family.

McEntire had earlier told PEOPLE that she was excited to sing with her daughter-in-law for the first time since 2009 when they did the '2 Worlds 2 Voices' tour together. The 63-year-old country icon had nothing but wonderful things to say about Clarkson.

When she opens her mouth to sing, it’s just like, ‘What is she gonna do next?’ She’s got this range, and I’m in awe every time she sings.

Apart from their amazing performance, fans were also buzzing about McEntire's choice of outfit. She chose to wear a bedazzled crimson gown. Incredibly, it was the same gown she wore back in 1993 for her duet with Linda Davis at the CMA Awards.

McEntire described her fascinating outfit as 'THE red dress', presumably referring to how much attention it got 25 years ago. The red dress and the beautiful performance with Clarkson gave us a feeling of nostalgia like we've never had before. Check out what fans had to say about it.
