Overweight Teenager Who Won 'The Biggest Loser' 10 Years Ago Is Now A Fit And Strong Fireman
To change your life, you have to change your habits, and for most people, this is very hard to do. However, stories of people who have turned their lives around by making a few changes serve as an inspiration to the rest of us that it can be done.
When Sam Rouen first became a contestant of the 2008 edition of 'The Biggest Loser,' he was not in the very best place. On the show, overweight contestants compete to lose the most weight in a 12-week period. Sam was only 19 when he participated but by the end of those three months, he was able to turn his life around in a pretty magnificent way.
Let's take a look back in time:
While on the show, he was given the tools he needed to make some lifestyle changes. He adopted them even after he left the show. By the time he returned for the live show where the winner was announced, Sam had lost 71 kg, thereby taking home the winning prize at 154 kg.
Sam kept up his fitness journey even after the camera stopped rolling. He took his training seriously and got closer to one of his greatest heart desire - to one day become a firefighter.
Today, Sam has been able to reach that goal. He has become a super fit and strong firefighter. His body is toned and he is very successful in his career. He is a hero to a lot of people and not just because he rescues them from burning buildings.
Because he knows that being healthy and exercising should be a lifestyle change, he still hits the gym regularly. In fact, he cannot imagine a life without regular physical activities. He once told The Daily Telegraph:
I’m addicted to working out now. I definitely love running and working out with my brother. I play a bit of sport to stay in shape and also work out in the gym.
Sam is truly an inspiration and a reminder that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
He was once heading towards a dangerous and unhealthy path until he decided to fight for something better.
