Any person has to be able to defend himself, not just psychologically, but physically too. If a male is attacking female on the street, women usually find it hard to strike back due to lack of proper preparation and insecurity.

That is why we offer tips and tricks from self-defense expert Jarrett Arthur, who is teaching women some helpful techniques to escape dangerous encounter.

1. It is important to set boundaries. If you notice someone is following you, command him to stop. Use an eye contact and speak with a loud and confident voice.

2. Hit the vulnerable spots – they are eyes, nose, throat, solar plexus, groin, knees. Striking these areas will give you a chance to slow or stun an attacker and run away.

3. You can hit the groin (the most painful area) with a leg kick.

4. If you are too close to the attacker, grab him by the shoulder to increase power and hit the groin with the knee.

5. If you target the throat or nose, bend your arm and hit it with your elbow.

6. Often, an attacker comes from behind, then you can hit him in the face with an elbow too.

7. In order to defend yourself from a choke lift your arms, and make a quick turn. Then you can hit the groin and face, and run away.

9. If you are on the ground and your attacker is up, tuck one foot to the ground – another foot is ready to kick. Lift your hips for kicking an attacker to the knee, groin, or face.

10. Here is how you escape from the grip, so-called “bear hug”. Bend your knees and use hands to hit the groin, then push his hips away. You will have enough space to kick the groin with the knee.
