A Father's Dying Wish Is To Walk His 7 Daughters Down The Aisle. The Girls Come Up With A Great Plan

Date February 8, 2018

For many fathers, one of the biggest moments they look forward to is walking their daughters down the aisle. It is such a momentous and emotional occasion that both the dad and child do not want to miss.

However, because we cannot guarantee how things will turn out, not everyone will get to enjoy this moment. Take Willie Shelton for instance. He had seven daughters and walking each of them down the aisle on their wedding day was a big dream of his.

Willie was suffering from terminal cancer and one of his biggest regrets was that he would not be able to witness his girls' wedding day. He, unfortunately, had to make peace with that fact. But his family refused to give up until they came up with something that would make his dream come true.

The girls joined forces with a local hospice, Taylor Elchert Photography, David's Bridal and hair salons to create the perfect event to celebrate their father. Each of them was then transformed into gorgeous brides.

They kept all this a secret from Willie. All he was told was that his already married daughter, Emily Flinn, was going to renew her vows and that he would give her away.

They also told him that the reason the other girls were getting dressed was so they could serve as bridesmaids for Emily.

It took only a few days for them to be able to organise this 'wedding'. Then on the big day, Willie was surprised when he saw each of his daughters come out of the house wearing wedding dresses. For a moment, he was confused but he soon realised what was going on.

Willie got to walk each and every one of his daughter down the aisle for a truly spectacular ceremony. The daughters also got something great out of this too. They got a cherished memory of what it would look like if their father witnessed their actual wedding.

Two weeks later, Willie Shelton passed away. As a memento of that special event, each girl got a locket with a picture of their father and themselves in their wedding dress.

A special engraved message at the back of the locket read, "a father’s love never ends.'

Even though it did not turn out like they dreamed, this family got to have a wonderful day that they would treasure forever.
