Tom Selleck is an American actor who has graced our TV screen for over four decades. One of his most popular roles was that of private investigator Thomas Magnum in the TV series, Magnum. P. I.

He has appeared in over 50 films and television shows since his days on Magnum P.I. He's certainly an accomplished actor and a successful name in the movie and TV industry.

So, what exactly has been his motivation? Well, the actor credits everything to Jesus. He once said that leading an ethical lifestyle while also putting God first is the reason for his success.

In a 2017 interview, Tom said he believes that his fortune comes from Jesus Christ and that, no matter how hard a person works or what they desire, it's only God that guides them through.

The actor has certainly come a long way in his life and career. Born in January, 1945, Tom was the second of four children.

His childhood was not the easiest, as his father would beat him often. Growing up, however, he was able to find something he had a passion for and pursued it until he achieved fame and recognition.

Even though he majored in Business Administration in college, it was clear that God was already guiding his path.

A drama coach encouraged him to give acting a shot and he did. He got a few opportunities to prove his talent by appearing on a game show and starring in multiple TV commercials.

When he graduated from college, Twentieth Century Fox offered him an acting contract, but a deeper and even bigger offer was being made by God. Tom took a break from acting and chose to join the army. It was risky knowing that his acting career may not be there when he returned, but he dedicated six years of his life to his calling during the Vietnam War.

When he returned, he resumed acting. It was apparent that God had his back because it was then that he got his breakout role as 'Thomas Magnum.' It was an opportunity that put him in the limelight and even won him an Emmy.

During the interview, Tom dedicated his success to Jesus Christ.

I try very hard to conduct myself in an ethical way because that’s important to my stability now. We’re a culture that’s so centered on the individual.

He's absolutely right. Once we, as humans, learn to let go and trust God, we will always have a reason to be thankful, no matter what happens.
