Prince William Saves Teenager In A Terrible Car Crash. After Coma And Several Surgical Procedures The Young Man Is Grateful For Every Day

17-year-old Jack Beeton suffered major injuries after he was involved in a terrible car crash in 2015. He was a passenger in his uncle Phillip's van when they were hit by a 20-tonne tipper.

It was reported that the lorry driver was overtaken with a coughing fit which caused him to lose control of his vehicle.

Unfortunately, Phillip Beeton died instantly in the crash while Jack was still barely holding on. Paramedics were called to the scene and the crew included none other than the Duke of Cambridge himself.

At the time, Prince William was working as a pilot for the East Anglia Air Ambulance. The royal remembered this accident very well, describing it as one of the most 'daunting' incidents he had ever experienced.

While narrating the experience in a letter to his colleagues, Prince William said:

We were first on scene and in such circumstances, we all had to pitch in to fight to save the young man's life. It is days like this when you know you have made a difference, that gives you the determination to keep going.

Jack's dad, David, said that during the rescue, Prince William was the one performing CPR on his son. "He's the one who kept him alive," he said.

Jack agreed, saying:

You can't really say much more than if they weren't as good as what they are I wouldn't have made it.

The young man had suffered a lot of injuries including a broken leg, shattered elbow, cracked pelvis, smashed jaw, collapsed lungs, bruised heart and a loss of blood.

Jack, whose memory of the accident was hazy, said that the paramedic crew did not think he would survive.

He was rushed to a hospital where he had to be put into an induced coma for two weeks and faced several surgical procedures as doctors tried to put him back together.

David revealed that even in 2018, Jack still has surgeries scheduled. However, the good news is that the young man is doing much better and is grateful for every day.
