A mother of two, Sophie Mei Lan has been dealing with criticism for quite a while now due to her decision to continue to breastfeed her daughter, Jasmine, even though she's now five.
The 29-year-old blogger is of the opinion that breastfeeding for as long as possible helps to strengthen the bond between herself and her children.
But it does not seem to be helping things in her marriage.
Sophie, who also breastfeeds 2-year-old Arianna says she does not see anything strange about her breastfeeding practice.
Breast milk is nourishing, soothing and it’s free. I must have saved thousands of pounds over the years.
Medical experts usually advise that newborns should be breastfed for at least up to six months after birth. Breastfeeding longer than that then becomes a personal decision.
Sophie also makes the boob available for her girls every night as they latch on until they fall asleep.
While she's completely satisfied with what she does, she cannot help but regret that it has caused a rift between herself and her husband, Chris.
It’s caused a bit of friction in my relationship. Chris would like me to stop because it’s so tiring.
Sophie also reveals that another downside is all the attention she gets when she breastfeeds in public.
People stare at her a lot and most of the looks are judgemental.
Love it or hate it, you cannot deny that Sophie's choice to keep breastfeeding for a long time is quite brave. We imagine she's always on the receiving end of mean comments and surprised looks from people.
But this is a practice that works for her and her kids. So, who are we to judge?
Having children is the biggest gift of life. It is essential to give them the happiest childhood. Here is one more powerful story to prove that.
