American Snowboarder Shaun White Wins 3 Olympic Titles And Bursts Into Tears
They call him Flying Tomato for his red hair, but now he has a new name. Shaun White certainly prefers to be called the first snowboarder to win 3 titles at the Olympics!
The American athlete scored 97.75 and snatched the victory from young Japanese snowboarder Ayumu Hirano, who scored 95.25.
Hirano is 19, White is 31 – probably his experience and years of hard work led him to this day! Each time he takes huge risks performing his tricks, yet he believes his halfpipe run in Pyeongchang was the most challenging in his career.
“The final run was the best I've ever done in my career and I did it when I had to do it at the clutch moment in front of all my friends and family - and the world was watching”
The world was actually gulping down the sensational run!
Shaun White is proud of his victory, as he has experienced major crashes in his career as well – the last one in New Zealand ended up with him getting 62 stitches on the face and having an injured shoulder. White commented: “I actually did the same trick that injured me here in the halfpipe today".
He did not expect himself to come back to sports so soon, but he did. And his return appeared to be victorious!
